Type Alias: EvmFinality
type EvmFinality =
| "finalized"
| {
confirmations: number;
};
Defined in: evm-client/src/config.ts:48
How a deployment's chain settles, i.e. what Commitment: "finalized" resolves
to for everything that reads a canonical head — today the indexer's canonical
tier and its backfill ceiling.
"finalized" uses the block tag of the same name: correct on post-merge
Ethereum, and supported by anvil. It has deliberately no silent fallback — a
chain that does not implement the tag should fail the request rather than have
a caller quietly treat reorgable tip blocks as canonical. Name a
confirmations depth for such a chain and the head becomes latest - confirmations instead.
A property of the chain rather than of any one client, which is why it lives here: two components reading "the finalized head" differently would disagree about what is settled.
